ROLLIN’ DEEP!

10 years ago…

many of my friends were in our 20s wanted to host an art show featuring our work and the art scene we were entrenched with. The show was a major success and one that began many longterm partnerships in the local art scene. 9 artists filled a 3500 square foot venue with art and live music. We even sourced a mid-90s minivan to be our canvas and installation art piece during the event.

Since then, we have all continued in art and grown our skills, professionalism, and following. We have now garnered 10 years of experience and technique. We have intermittently discussed having another Rollin’ Deep, but the opportunity never seemed to arise. Recently, Casey Massenge of Edmond Railyard invited me to discuss a mural project on his properties between 1st and 2nd St. in downtown Edmond. I knew this project had potential to be a 10 year reunion and epic mural showcase.

More recently with increased precautions of Covid-19, hosting events has proven difficult. Edmond Railyard is an excellent venue for hosting an open air event where patrons can enjoy mural demonstrations and practice safe social distancing. 13 artists will be installing murals along the two block alleyway. Local DJs and musicians will be performing on Nov. 7th from noon to 6pm.

In three days, artists will transform 4700 square feet of alleyway into giant works of art. What was once a simple alley will become a highly trafficked destination spot, selfie station, and outdoor gallery featuring some of the best Oklahoman muralists.
